Board asks for data as it reviews renewal of student-services contract and trades partnership

The Fort Lee Board of Education discussed the renewal of a student-services contract with Insight and questions about a partnership with Eastwick College during its public session.
Miss Collazo, delivering the superintendent's report, described services included in the Insight agreement: a licensed clinician, database access and year-round support, with clinician caseloads of roughly 25 to 30 students. She said the contract under review was a renewal following an earlier RFP and that the attachment showed a contract period that runs in part from June 1 to Nov. 30 within the district's contracting calendar. "This is a renewal," Collazo said, noting prior procurement activity and that staff can provide additional details on attachments.
Board members pressed for aggregate performance information, not individual student records. One member asked whether Insight would provide district-level statistics on its work; Collazo said she could obtain aggregate data and reiterated that any reporting would exclude individual student information. "Will they be open to giving us just statistics on the work they have done for aggregate? Obviously no individual student information, but aggregate information for our district," a board member asked. Collazo replied she would get that information.
Members also questioned how annual grant-funded programs are sustained without creating permanent salary commitments. Staff said many grant-funded summer programs historically do not create ongoing salary obligations; the board was cautioned against introducing positions that require long-term district funding if grants are not guaranteed.
On the Eastwick College partnership, Collazo explained Eastwick provides instructors who teach the district's high-school trades program on-site; the program serves roughly 60 students. Board members asked whether the program could be expanded or become a revenue source by accepting students from other districts, and staff said expansion is possible but limited by available space and competition.
The board did not take final action on the Insight renewal during the discussion; members asked staff for the contract attachment review, clarification of start-end dates and aggregate outcome data as follow-up.
The board is expected to take any final procurement votes at a future meeting after staff provides the requested contract clarifications and performance data.
