West Point Public Schools reports enrollment, NAEP testing selection and 34,000 summer meals served

Administrators at the West Point Public Schools Board of Education meeting on Aug. 11 reported current enrollment figures and several operational updates for the coming school year.
Administrators reported enrollment as of Aug. 11: 324 students in PK–4, 204 students in the middle school and 219 students in the high school. The district said West Point Elementary School (WPES) has been selected to participate in National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) testing for all fourth graders.
Mr. Hohenthaner provided summer athletics and activities figures, noting summer weights and Fall Sports numbers. The district will roll out an electronic hall-pass system (Securely pass) for grades 7–12. Administrators also welcomed Kirsten Berg as the new activities secretary.
Superintendent Weddle gave construction updates and reported on recent conferences he attended, including a Property Development meeting, NCSA Administrator Days and a NASB workshop. He said the district's summer food program served more than 34,000 meals to children ages 1–18 this summer and thanked staff and volunteers who supported the program. He also reminded the board of a special meeting on Aug. 27, 2025 at 7:30 a.m. in the district office to pay final fiscal-year bills.
