The Chair said accepting the land would "open up a whole lot of opportunities for us then to apply for different grants."
On potential funding, the Chair reported Representative Justin Fleming "has given us some, some good heads up on a, $25,000 grant," noting that the amount could significantly support the project if the board accepts the land and the group pursues available grants.
The Chair earlier updated members on storm-related cleanup at Newside, saying township staff and PennDOT cleared roughly "99%" of storm damage, and noted the commission is considering a rededication for Newside at the September 3 meeting if logistics at the cemetery are difficult for attendees.
No formal board vote on the land transfer was recorded in this meeting; the Chair presented the planning commission acceptance and the potential grant lead as status updates and next steps.
