Onyx Corp. gazebo and buffer‑zone work at 1330 Monument Street continued to Aug. 5

The Natural Resources Commission continued the hearing for Onyx Corporation’s application at 1330 Monument Street to allow the applicant to provide additional details on mitigation calculations, irrigation head removal and fence details.

Dan Carr, representing the applicant, described a proposal that includes a gazebo with a hearth, stepping stones, replacement stone steps and removal of invasive plants within buffer zones. He said the proposal would remove irrigation heads in the 50‑foot buffer and plant native species to replace lawn. Commissioners noted the mitigation square‑foot calculations were not yet provided; Carr said the applicant will supply the per‑shrub square‑foot equivalency and an impervious‑surface calculation for the gazebo.

Commissioners also discussed the proposed aluminum fence. The commission asked that the lowest horizontal bar be raised to a minimum of 6 inches above grade to prevent small animals passing through while allowing small dogs to be contained; John Durkin (Monnex Corporation) confirmed the team could meet that detail. Staff said they already requested an impervious calculation and asked for an irrigation as‑built or confirmation that sprinkler heads in the buffer will be removed.

Because several requested clarifications remain — mitigation area math, irrigation details, and final fence and stone‑step notes — staff recommended continuing the matter to the Aug. 5 meeting to allow the applicant to submit revised drawings and required exhibits. The commission agreed and continued the hearing to Aug. 5.
