The commission reviewed the economic-development portion of the vision-plan update and agreed to remove a redundant list of events while retaining language that strengthens the city's image regionally and nationally. Committee member 5 said she had contacted a local Carroll County Collaborative representative and recommended inviting Mandy Martin to a future meeting to share available information and resources.
Several commissioners suggested the chamber of commerce's economic-development arm should be invited as well so the commission can understand ongoing programs, subcommittees and priorities. Chair and other commissioners supported bringing both groups in and asked staff to coordinate scheduling and public notice.
Cassie said she would post invited guests on the city's website so the public would be notified of workshop speakers. Commissioners discussed asking invitees to address specific questions so the meeting would be focused on concrete resources and next steps rather than broad overviews.
The commission asked members to bring five new ideas to the next workshop — three short-term (0–5 years) and two long-term (10–20 years) — to create a community flyer and a survey option using e-planning.org for broader public input. The commission will continue the economic-development outreach at upcoming workshops.
