White Pond to add parking attendant booth and separate check‑ins from lifeguards
Summary
Recreation staff said White Pond is open for the season; the town has a building permit for an attendant booth and will use attendants to handle check‑ins so lifeguards can focus on waterfront safety. CPW must still lay the booth pad.

Concord — Recreation staff reported that White Pond is open and that the town obtained a building permit for a parking‑attendant booth to improve check‑in operations. The booth site requires the Department of Public Works (referred to as CPW in the meeting) to lay the pad before the booth is installed.
Staff described separating check‑in duties from lifeguards by placing attendants at a booth near the lot entrance so waterfront staff can concentrate on safety and capacity decisions. The dock and aPods used to manage algae and water quality were reported in place.
Staff said attendants are in place though shifts will continue to be staffed and the physical booth is expected before the end of the season; no firm date was recorded in the meeting. The commission welcomed the operational change as a measure to protect lifeguard focus on safety.
