The Common Council on July 6 appointed Assistant City Manager/Finance Director Kevin Plockmeyer as Interim City Manager/Superintendent effective June 9, 2026. The council approved compensation for the interim role at $178,000 unless adjusted later by council action.
Separately, the council approved a multi-year microfilming, digitization and internet-hosting service with Central Michigan University’s Clarke Historical Library to preserve Zeeland Record editions (publication years 2025–2027). Library & Community Center Director Amanda Hanson said each year’s publication cost will not exceed $1,300 and the work will be funded by the Howard Miller Library Endowment Fund; the service is scheduled to begin in Fall 2026.
Both items were presented during the study session and adopted during the regular meeting.
