West Point Public Schools board elects 2026 officers, names committee assignments

At its Jan. 12 meeting the West Point Public Schools Board of Education elected its 2026 president, vice president, treasurer and secretary by recorded votes and accepted committee assignments for negotiations, policy review, curriculum, safety/technology, facilities/finance and personnel.
The West Point Public Schools Board of Education reorganized leadership for 2026 at its Jan. 12 meeting at the district Media Center, electing officers and adopting committee assignments.
Holly Hunke moved that Steve Blocher assume the role of president for 2026; Eunice Ramirez seconded. The motion carried with recorded votes showing Blocher, Brockmann, Hughes, Hunke and Ramirez voting yea; Herb Hasenkamp was absent. The board then elected Eric Brockmann as vice president (motion by Steve Blocher, second by Holly Hunke); Holly Hunke as treasurer (motion by Steve Hughes, second by Eric Brockmann); and Herb Hasenkamp as secretary (motion by Steve Hughes, second by Holly Hunke). All officer motions carried by recorded, unanimous votes of members present (Hasenkamp absent).
President Blocher announced committee assignments for the year: Negotiations (Steve Blocher, Holly Hunke, Eric Brockmann); Policy Review (Herb Hasenkamp, Holly Hunke, Eunice Ramirez); Americanism/Government/Curriculum (Steve Hughes, Eunice Ramirez, Eric Brockmann); Safety/Technology (Herb Hasenkamp, Holly Hunke, Steve Hughes); Facilities/Finance (Steve Blocher, Holly Hunke, Eric Brockmann); and Personnel (Herb Hasenkamp, Steve Blocher, Eric Brockmann).
The reorganizational votes set the board’s leadership and committee structure for the coming year; the board adjourned at 7:04 p.m. and will meet next on Feb. 9, 2026.
