Fire Chief Larry Pendarvis presented a proposal for the purchase of a 40‑foot forcible‑entry Connex training prop to centralize and expand structural‑fire and forcible‑entry training. He said the prop will allow multi‑company training at one location, can be relocated to a future training center, and includes adjustable interior walls and features used by law enforcement.
Chief Pendarvis said the department currently maintains separate smaller props at Stations 56 and 58, which limits multi‑company training. He described the proposed prop's features and noted the design would match Station 58's color scheme and sit on a screened concrete pad. "The funds will come from the Measure K operating budget, and the prop would cost a $143,219," Pendarvis said. He recommended approving the purchase under the National Purchasing Partners contract PS25680.
Council members thanked the chief for the presentation, asked clarifying questions, and the council unanimously approved the purchase by motion. Staff will proceed with procurement under the indicated contract and include the prop in the FY 2026–27 budget plan.
