The Mebane City Council unanimously approved a rezoning request for a 1.3‑acre parcel at Giles Street and Vance Street submitted by TRG Capital LLC, allowing the site to be redeveloped as a one‑story duplex.
Mayor Pro Tem Tim Bradley described the request as a change from an R-20 low‑density residential district to an R-8 district, which permits moderate to higher density housing. Bradley said the approved plan will allow a duplex with separate driveways—one off Vance Street and one off Giles Street—and that the units were described as three bedrooms with 2.5 bathrooms.
Bradley told listeners the site is inside the city limits with water and sewer available and that surrounding properties include single‑family homes, duplexes and vacant land. He said the council found the rezoning consistent with surrounding uses and with the goals of the city’s comprehensive plan. The council voted unanimously to approve the rezoning.
With zoning changed, the applicant may move forward with site plans and building permits subject to normal permitting and inspection processes.
