County administrator: no known data-center projects; moratorium language to appear on next agenda

The administrator told the chair, members and counsel that earlier citizen comments referred to a prior meeting and that the agenda language used was standard. He said, “There was no discussion about data centers locating in this county,” and added, “There are no known data center projects.”
The administrator said the discussion in executive session had focused on legal aspects of a moratorium and that the moratorium language is expected to appear on the next agenda for a first reading so the community can review the proposed wording. He told the meeting, “We were just discussing the legal aspects of a moratorium, which we would anticipate being on the next agenda for the community to see and the language available on 1st reading as well.”
Earlier in the meeting the chair moved to end the executive session; the motion was seconded and the body voted 7-0 in favor. The chair stated for the record that no action was taken while in executive session. The meeting concluded when the chair called for a motion to adjourn; that motion was also seconded and approved 7-0.
The announcement clarifies that, according to county officials present at the meeting, there are currently no active county-led data-center projects and that any moratorium would be considered through a future public meeting process beginning with a first reading of proposed language.
