Members suggested practical alternatives — use a Dogwood Festival whiteboard or QR code to gather ideas, collaborate with local art classes to solicit designs, or run a social-media poll — while staff offered to handle vendor selection and procurement once a design is chosen. Chair (S1) emphasized the need to secure funds and warned that community engagement activities might be curtailed if the purchase order deadline cannot be met.
No formal motion was recorded to commit funds or to defer the project; staff said they would follow up with Finance to confirm final PO cutoffs and would brief the committee at the next meeting.
