Mebane council approves purchase of property next to City Hall for $325,000

City Manager Richard White told residents the council authorized the purchase of a property adjacent to City Hall to provide additional parking and possible future city facility expansion.
White said Janice Hall of Janice Properties LLC offered to sell the building at 200 South 5th Street, a dental office adjacent to City Hall and the Planning & Inspections building, for $325,000. The council voted 5-0 to approve the purchase, authorize a budget amendment, and empower the city manager and finance director to execute the purchase agreement and related documents. The seller requested nine days after closing to remove belongings from the property.
White said the acquisition responds to the city's needs for additional parking and room for potential future expansion of municipal services.
