LaGrange announces $125,000 CDBG restroom grant, $20,000 open-space match and applies for master-plan funding

Supervisor Marinaro told the board the town was awarded several grants and is pursuing additional planning funding.
He announced the town received the full $125,000 Dutchess County Community Development Block Grant to build a four-stall restroom at LaGrange Park, citing the park’s heavy seasonal use. He also said the town earned a $20,000 Hudson River Valley Greenway matching grant to update the town’s open-space plan (originally adopted in 2007) and that the town will proceed with an RFP to engage GreenPlan to perform the update.
Marinaro said the town also received a $13,000 grant to support the Veterans Affairs Advisory Committee’s effort to seek Purple Heart town recognition. Separately, the board authorized staff to apply for the Department of State’s Smart Growth Community Planning Program grant to produce a new comprehensive/master plan; staff noted a minimum award of $75,000 and that state funding typically covers up to 90% of costs, leaving a 10% local match.
Board members celebrated the grant awards and congratulated the open-space committee and recreation staff for obtaining funding. The board approved the GreenPlan proposal and authorized contract/escrow arrangements for the related map-plan and wastewater-cost updates (CPL), with applicant-provided escrow for the latter.
