Parks Director Lina Hicks explained the allocation of the $15,000 the council had previously authorized: $8,500 would pay for barriers to line the parade route, $2,500 would cover overtime for six additional city staff, and $4,000 would be allocated to the Chamber for hiring security and event staffing. “The funds have already been authorized by council. This would just kind of break it up, of how we're going to spend it,” Hicks said, recommending approval.
Council moved, seconded and approved the resolution by voice vote. The transcript records council members saying “aye” and the mayor declared the resolution passed.
The action formalizes the city’s allocation for parade safety and staffing for the upcoming July 4 events.
