Beachwood authorizes bids for Spar and Shell reconstruction, seeks NJDOT grant for Spruce and Birch

Beachwood Mayor and Council on June 17 authorized the borough to advertise and receive bids for the NJDOT 2025 Road Improvement Project, which includes reconstruction of Spar Avenue and Shell Street. Borough Engineer Remington & Vernick reported that plans, specifications and bid documents are complete and the council approved a resolution to solicit bids (Resolution 2026-191).
The council also accepted a proposal from Remington & Vernick Engineers for professional services related to a Green Acres grant application (not to exceed $6,887.50), with funds certified by the chief financial officer. Separately, the council authorized the mayor and municipal clerk to submit a 2027 NJDOT grant application for reconstruction of Spruce Street and Birch Street (Resolution 2026-194a) and to execute the NJEIT water-main replacement contract with MSP Construction Corporation (Resolution 2026-194b).
Engineer John LeCompte briefed council members that the bid documents for Spar and Shell are ready and, upon authorization, will be publicly advertised. Council members noted ongoing paving work in the borough and thanked public works for July 4th preparations. The council directed the clerk to forward certified copies of bid-authorizing resolutions to the CMFO, the borough engineer and the public works department for next steps.
