Mason agrees to negotiate sewer change order after motor and wiring work; ARP funds earmarked

Public Works Director Matalee Hall told the board the Mason—Charleston sewer station motor has been installed and Cottrell Electric completed necessary wiring, restoring station operations. The project engineer recommended a $20,556.16 change order from Vortex to seal the wetwell. Hall said the project has roughly $40,000 remaining and recommended paying Cottrell Electric for the wiring work.
Interim Town Administrator Terry Leggett said the remaining funds are ARP-allocated for sewer rehabilitation and asked the board to allow him to negotiate with Davina before signing the change order or issuing new payments. Alderman Alethea Harris moved to give Leggett that authority; Alderman Trowanna Broadnax seconded. The board voted 6-0 to allow Leggett to negotiate prior to signing.
The vote permits staff to finalize costs and secure TDEC/ARP approvals where required. Board discussion noted the project remains within the ARP-funded scope and staff will return with finalized change-order documentation for formal execution.
