Mountlake Terrace City Council voted 5‑0 on July 16 to adopt a resolution supporting Sno‑Isle Intercounty Rural Library District Proposition 1, a regular property tax levy restoration that staff said would set the levy rate at $0.47 per $1,000 and appear on the August 4 ballot.
Staff noted the current library levy, adopted in 2018, is ending its term and described library services as a community resource providing internet access, programming, meeting rooms and other supports. Public commenter George Stanton urged council support before the vote, saying the levy costs about $10 a month for the average Snohomish County homeowner and that the libraries provide outsized benefit for all ages.
Councilmember Doyle moved adoption of the resolution and Councilmember Matsumoto Wright seconded; the motion passed 5‑0 with no discussion.
