Shickley board approves contracts, travel and vehicle purchases; one abstention on a vendor claim
Summary
At its Sept. 8 meeting the board carried motions to approve an HVAC service agreement for $12,300, purchase two student-transport vans, authorize FFA travel, approve personnel leave and pass claims; one abstention was recorded on a vendor claim.
The Shickley Public Schools Board of Education approved multiple routine and contract items during its Sept. 8 meeting.
Kempf moved and Nelson seconded approval of the meeting agenda and Schlegel moved and Kempf seconded approval of the consent agenda; both motions carried unanimously (6–0). The board approved financial reports (6–0).
The board approved claims and bills in two steps. Nelson moved and Kempf seconded approval of claims and bills as presented excluding Five Loaves Market & Bakery; that motion carried 6–0. The board then separately approved the claim for Five Loaves Market & Bakery; the motion carried (Yes: 5, No: 0, Abstain: 1), with board member Schlegel recorded as the abstention.
On personnel and programs, Schlegel moved and Nelson seconded approval of a certified staff unpaid leave request (6–0). Kempf moved and Schlegel seconded approval for FFA national convention travel to Indianapolis, Indiana, Oct. 28–Nov. 1, 2025; that motion carried 6–0.
On facilities and procurement, Nelson moved and Kempf seconded approval of an HVAC service agreement with Facility Advocates for $12,300; the board approved the contract unanimously (6–0). Kempf moved and Nelson seconded approval to purchase two vans from Woodhouse Ford for student transportation; that motion carried 6–0.
At 8:18 p.m. the board entered closed session to discuss a potential financial transaction; the board exited closed session at 8:27 p.m. No further action on that item was recorded in the minutes. The meeting adjourned at 8:28 p.m.
