The Shickley Public Schools Board of Education opened a public budget hearing at 6:45 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, as Dr. Essink presented the proposed 2025–26 budget. The presentation drew no questions from board members or members of the public during the hearing.
President Noel called the regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. after the budget hearing. Board members noted that the finance committee had already reviewed the 2026 budget in a prior meeting. Dr. Essink also previewed planned policy updates that will be brought to the board for future votes.
Board members scheduled a tax hearing and a special board meeting to approve the budget and the tax asking for Sept. 23. The board did not take a final vote to adopt the budget during the Sept. 8 meeting; the Sept. 23 session is intended for formal budget and tax-asking action.
No public commenters addressed the board on the budget at the Sept. 8 meeting. The board’s next regular meeting was scheduled for Oct. 13 at 7:00 p.m.
