Shickley Board approves $50,000 transfer to lunch fund, recognizes bargaining unit and adopts policy updates

President Noel opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m. and roll call showed all board members present. After citing the Open Meetings Act and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, the board approved the agenda and the consent agenda, and accepted financial reports as presented.
In separate motions, the board approved general claims and bills, then separately approved bills for Five Loaves Market & Bakery; that approval carried with five votes in favor and one abstention recorded for board member Schlegel. Board members Kempf and Nelson are recorded as movers and seconders on multiple procedural items.
The board voted to recognize the Shickley Education Association as the bargaining unit for 2027–28 negotiations; the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved Hayley Sliva as a local substitute teacher.
On budget business, the board approved transferring $50,000 from the General Fund to the Lunch Fund to support the district lunch program. The motion was moved by Kempf, seconded by Nelson, and carried unanimously.
Board members approved a set of proposed policy changes and specifically adopted Policy 718.01, titled “Travel Costs Related to Federal Grants.” The board also approved the Option Enrollment Resolution for the 2026–27 school year.
The meeting concluded with announcements that the Finance Committee met earlier to review monthly finances and that other committees will meet in upcoming weeks. The board set its next meeting for Nov. 10, 2025, and adjourned at 7:42 p.m.
