Shickley board approves transfers totaling $135,000 for transportation, infrastructure and activities

The Shickley Public Schools Board of Education approved two budget transfers at its Aug. 11 regular meeting to bolster reserves for transportation, infrastructure and student activities.
Board member Kempf moved and Board member Nelson seconded a motion to transfer $95,000 from the General Fund to the Depreciation Fund to support future transportation, infrastructure and technology needs; the motion carried unanimously (Yes: 6, No: 0). Later, Board member Schlegel moved and Kempf seconded a motion to transfer $40,000 from the General Fund to the Activities Fund to cover BDS expenses for the 2024–25 year; that transfer also carried unanimously (Yes: 6, No: 0).
The transfers were presented after routine financial reports and committee updates. The minutes record the transfers are intended to set aside funds for upcoming vehicle or facility needs and to address activity-related shortfalls from the prior year. No additional conditions or implementation dates were recorded in the minutes.
The board approved other routine financial items during the meeting, and set its next meeting for Sept. 8, 2025.
