Shickley Public Schools board votes to leave National School Lunch Program, names ALICAP as insurer

Shickley Public Schools Board President Noel called the July 14 regular meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board approved the agenda, consent agenda and financial reports before taking up a series of policy and operational items.
The board voted to discontinue the district’s participation in the National School Lunch Program after a motion by Kempf, seconded by Schlegel. The motion carried with five board members voting yes and one voting no (Loy). Greg Schroeder presented the back-to-school professional development schedule and staff training plans. Dr. Essink reviewed Strategic Plan initiatives focused on administrative professional development and welcoming new employees. The record lists six visitors in attendance.
The board set its next meeting for Aug. 11 at 7:00 p.m. and adjourned at 8:04 p.m. Kempf moved and Nelson seconded the motion to adjourn; the vote was recorded as carried (6–0).
