The Prince George County communications lead presented an annual snapshot of the division’s outreach work at the Aug. 12 school board meeting, highlighting student involvement and digital metrics.
The presenter said the district’s social-media class produces content that amplifies student voices and that, over recent years, the program has helped the division increase posts to a target of roughly 400–500 per year. He cited a one-year metric of about “1,600,000 post reach,” said the division “grew by nearly 900 followers,” and reported a monthly average engagement rate of roughly 21%.
The presentation noted partnerships with local media (including the Prince George Journal and an NBC 12 segment), use of Flickr for photo galleries, and ongoing website work with vendor Edlio to standardize navigation and improve family access. Staff said they perform twice-yearly audits of central and school websites to keep information current and that they will use analytics to inform a new communications plan and user-experience work for school sites.
Board members thanked the presenter and had no objection to the department continuing the two-year communications plan and student partnerships. The presentation was given as an informational item; no board action was required.
