Board approves phased cafeteria roof work; asks superintendent to seek flexible payment options from contractor

The Max Board of Education voted Nov. 17 to move forward on phased roof repairs for the school cafeteria and approved related exterior lining work to occur during the summer of 2026.
During unfinished business, Dennis Erickson, a board member, moved to complete the east portion of the cafeteria roof and to charge the final portion to the 2025–26 budget. Erickson also moved that the board proceed with the cafeteria portion of the roof work during summer 2026 and asked Superintendent Larry Sebastian to request that contractor Tecta America allow the cafeteria portion to be paid in two installments after July 1. Jeremy Thompson seconded the motion; the board approved it 4–0.
The board also approved a motion, moved by Erickson and seconded by Holly Sobieck, to complete the outside portion of the lining work during summer 2026; that motion passed 4–0. The transcript records the wording as 'complete the outside portion of the lining of the lines'; the board did not further clarify that phrase during the meeting and the decision was recorded as approved.
A separate discussion about replacing door number 3 was tabled until the Dec. 16 meeting.
