Plaistow library seeks to build accessible garden and pathway starting in July

Library Director Christine Muir and Assistant Director Jenn Dawley presented the Board with plans for a new accessible garden near Main Street and the library. Muir said the garden has been under discussion for two years and that the first step — an accessible pathway with trees, plants and signage — is ready to begin the first week of July.
Dawley and Muir said the project will be developed step‑by‑step, with Conservation serving as a funding partner. The presenters said lighting for the area was not discussed prior to the meeting and will be evaluated separately. They also described upcoming library events, including the Summer Reading Program and a Touch‑a‑Truck event.
Selectmen offered thanks to volunteers and noted the garden will provide a welcoming gateway to the village when complete. No formal votes were required at the June 15 meeting; the board received the presentation and discussion focused on timing, accessibility and coordination with Conservation.
