Camden County elections board reviews TextMyGov demonstration; staff asked to study costs

At the Feb. 19 meeting of the Camden County Board of Elections & Registration, Elections Supervisor Shannon Nettles introduced a demonstration of TextMyGov, a voter-communication platform, presented by a company representative identified only as Zach. Nettles told the board she would like to include the program in the office’s budget request for the next fiscal year.
Board members participated in a live demonstration and concluded the presentation with questions about contract and budgetary implications. Members asked staff to investigate whether the cost could be shared with other county offices, what penalties — if any — exist for early termination of the platform’s minimum three-year commitment, and whether less expensive vendors offering similar services are available. “At the conclusion of the presentation the board had some concerns and questions that they would like the Elections Supervisor, Shannon Nettles to further research,” the minutes say.
No formal motion or vote to purchase the service was taken. The board’s direction was limited to requesting more information from staff; Nettles will return with cost estimates, details on contract terms and any proposed funding sources if she pursues the item in the March budget submission cycle.
