Dolores County hires John Koczek as veteran service officer

The Dolores County Board of County Commissioners voted to hire John Koczek as the county veteran service officer at its Feb. 2 meeting.
County leaders said the new veteran service officer will be responsible for transporting veterans to medical appointments and helping them navigate benefit programs. Commissioners said the position had been open for nearly a year and that interviews were recently completed.
A motion to hire John Koczek was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. Commissioners welcomed the hire and expressed that they expect the addition to strengthen veteran transportation and benefit-assistance services in Dolores County.
