Dolores County approves Senior Services ADA demand-response compliance plan

Dolores County commissioners voted to approve an updated ADA Demand Response Compliance Plan for the county’s Senior Services program and signed the document during a special meeting.

Senior services staff (S3), who circulated the revision and submitted it to the Colorado Department of Transportation for review, told the board the revised document converts the county’s earlier paratransit plan to a demand-response compliance plan and incorporates items identified during a recent site visit. "I had sent this to you guys... CDOT said that it looks good," the presenter said, describing the changes and templates added by the consultant who conducted the site visit.

Board members asked about the plan’s reasonable-modification language and said they were satisfied with how staff had addressed accommodations. A commissioner said the regional manager had reviewed the draft and found it "solid." The board took a voice vote after a motion from the chair and approved the plan; members then signed the document.

The plan adds a formal reasonable-modification policy and updates language required by the site visit; Senior Services said the updates preserve existing service while clarifying accommodations and processes. The county did not specify a public-implementation date during the meeting. The board also recorded that CDOT had reviewed the submission but did not attach a formal written concurrence in the meeting record.

The approval was one item among several on a short special-meeting agenda. The board moved next to contract and salary-category items during the same session.
