Rockport plans immediate $10,000 playground repairs, will tap district reserves

Because capital-outlay funds would not be available until after the town meeting and procurement could add weeks to delivery, Santalipo said the administration intends to tap district reserves and order the needed repairs immediately so the playground can be safe for students within a two-month window. The superintendent and members discussed prioritizing an adaptive piece of equipment and contracting the playground vendor for annual off-season inspections to better forecast future replacements. Several members urged clearer processes for routine equipment review so the committee and public are not repeatedly surprised by urgent repairs.
