Board hears update on possible soccer fall transition and complex opening

Stephen Fyfe asked about transitioning the fall city soccer season to Iowa Rush. Alex Meyers said the city-run league is only held in the fall and that a change to Iowa Rush for the fall would need City Council approval; spring soccer will continue as in previous years.
On the soccer complex, Meyers and Spencer Winzenried said fields have been worked on over the winter but that the opening will depend on how well the grass grows in spring. Staff will monitor turf conditions and report a firm opening date once spring growth provides certainty.
Amanda Schwerdtfeger raised parking concerns from last spring when soccer and Little League used the sports park concurrently; Meyers said Kevin Vos will plan parking layouts as in prior years.
