Board approves 2026 youth-sports lease agreements as user fees rise

Alex Meyers, presenting staff recommendations, said USSSA user fees increased to $200 plus taxes for 2026, and that Little League and Iowa Rush fees rose to $30 per person. Meyers told the board that user fees had not been increased since 2015 and that the differences in fees reflect the amount of practice and game hours available to each group.
Board member Arvin Van Zante asked whether the per-team price change was being applied consistently across categories; Meyers said staff will review fees for all sports later this year. Van Zante moved to approve the lease agreements; Stephen Fyfe seconded and the motion carried 6-0.
The approved agreements and fee changes are intended to align rental rates with operational costs and to reflect differences in field use among leagues. Staff noted one USSSA team registered after the deadline and that the USSSA field/time draw is scheduled for Feb. 24.
The board did not adopt a broader fee schedule change at this meeting; Meyers indicated a comprehensive review of user fees will occur later in 2026.
