The Kennebunk Community Garden Committee approved minutes from its April 22 meeting and finalized logistics for two garden sites at the group’s May 6 meeting at Kennebunk Town Hall.
Leslie Lindgren, a committee member, reported that the WK site will open 9–11 a.m. on May 23 and that Miracle Grow OMRI‑listed soil and soil from Tibbetts Farm in Lyman are being used in the raised beds. Lindgren noted six rain barrels were delivered and said the committee agreed not to provide shared toters; instead, individual gardeners will be responsible for their own waste, and she is reviewing alternative bin options.
Committee members recorded that the PSS site will open 9–11 a.m. on May 16. The committee noted two pallets of compost are being delivered and that maintenance staff will move the compost inside the site fence. Kennebunk High School (KHS) students may help distribute the compost, and Agricycle toters will be in place at PSS this season.
A motion to approve the April 22 minutes was recorded with Kathy Dolan as mover and Rona Klein as seconder. The meeting minutes list the approval motion (mover: Kathy Dolan; second: Rona Klein). The meeting adjourned at 5:21 p.m.; the adjournment line lists Rona Klein and Leslie Lindgren in the mover/second positions.
The committee noted a welcome meeting for gardeners will follow immediately after the May 6 meeting and listed its upcoming meeting dates through October.
