Commission allows Rok Wood Sauna to apply as transient merchant for private-property operations

Joe and Paige Poczkalski, representing Rok Wood Sauna, attended the June 29 meeting to answer commissioners’ questions about operating a mobile sauna within the city.
The Poczkalskis said they have been in contact with Beaver Dam, Mayville, Horicon and Hartford; they reported that all those communities except Hartford treated the business like a transient merchant and required only a transient-merchant application. Commissioners concluded the city could follow a similar approach for private-property operations.
Josh Nichols moved and Cathy Firari seconded approval for Rok Wood Sauna to complete a transient-merchant application for doing business on private property only; the motion carried. The minutes record that approval but do not include a numeric roll call.
The commission’s decision limits the vendor to private-property locations and relies on the transient-merchant process rather than a separate, vendor-specific ordinance.
