Town maintenance and public-safety updates were presented at the May 4 Selectmen meeting in Winter Harbor. The Fire/Road Commissioner/Facilities Maintenance Director reported that the gym water heater rusted out and was replaced, and that the scout cabin had been broken into and vandalized; doors were secured and town staff are working to restore electricity so cameras can be installed. A dumpster arrived to support cleaning of the garage, gym and fire house, and fire trucks have pump testing scheduled for Saturday.
Town Manager Sara J. Liscomb reported a possible buyer may turn the marina over to the Town; she also said the Town Report is complete except for the cover and has been sent to the printer. The report will be available at the June 9 election.
During public comment, Selectman R. Littlefield said the new benches "look great and [are] inviting" and asked whether the large amount of taxes still due was normal. Selectman S. Fortin asked that check amounts be included on future agendas to improve transparency.
The Selectmen then handled routine procedural items and adjourned at 6:29 p.m.
