Selectmen approve payroll and bills, appoint Energy Committee member and begin town counsel interviews

The Marlborough Board of Selectmen approved routine financial paperwork and made an appointment to a committee during its Aug. 13 meeting.
Selectman Nelson moved to approve the August 14, 2025 direct deposit register for $13,198.22 and the accounts payable register for $101,068.93; Selectman Pitt seconded and the vote was unanimous. Selectman Pitt then moved to approve the August 5, 2025 meeting minutes; Selectman Nelson seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Selectman Pitt moved to appoint Michael Desabrais to the Energy Committee with a term ending March 31, 2027; Selectman Nelson seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Selectman Pitt reported he reviewed recommended attorneys on Martindale–Hubbell and said four recommended attorneys will be contacted to arrange interviews to serve as Town Counsel. The board also reviewed and signed documents including yield tax forms for timber cuts (24-287-06-T and 24-287-09-T), a cemetery deed for Wilder, an intent to cut (25-287-04-T) and a plumbing permit application for Map 12-008.
The meeting adjourned at 11:55 a.m. following a motion by Selectman Nelson and a second by Chairman Paight; the vote to adjourn was unanimous.
