Prairie City council authorizes start of cemetery pillar repairs, approves $500 payment cap

No residents attended the meeting for public comment, but the council clerk recorded an email from residents Billy and Amy Witte (107 E. 2nd St.) asking that the city review its pool ordinance in comparison with neighboring towns and place that item on the June 10 agenda so they can open a pool this summer. The council did not take action on the pool ordinance item at the special session.
During the meeting, Council Member Derek Ingle said he was frustrated by residents verbally harassing city employees over ordinance enforcement and said he did not want to reward disrespectful behavior. Interim City Administrator and Library Director Sue Ponder, City Clerk/Finance Officer Jadi Brown and Public Works Director Harry Brannen were listed as attending staff.
The council recorded no consent items and noted no new business during the special session. Council Member Derek Ingle moved to adjourn at 6:12 p.m.; Council Member Joseph Disney seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The next regular or special meeting agenda will include the pool-ordinance request for June 10 as requested by the Witte correspondence.
