Diamondville council reappoints planning members, approves insurance and other administrative items

The Diamondville Town Council approved several administrative and personnel actions at its April 6 meeting.
Appointments and confirmations: Councilmember Robert Sawaya moved to re-appoint Mike Breese to a two-year term on the Planning and Zoning Commission (expiring March 2028); Councilmember Nicole Petersen seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Councilmember Sherrol Sloan moved to re-appoint Robbie Ray to a two-year term on the Planning and Zoning Commission (expiring March 2028); Councilmember Petersen seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Nicole Petersen moved to approve the submitted application of Kamila Schultz for a three-year Planning and Zoning Commission term; Councilmember Sawaya seconded and the motion carried.
Other administrative actions: The council approved a quote of $10,574.97 to replace the car wash change machine. The council approved the Glatfelter insurance proposal for the April 2026–March 2027 renewal. Councilmember Sawaya moved to schedule a budget workshop for April 20, 2026 at 5 p.m.; Councilmember Sherrol Sloan seconded and the motion passed. Review of DOT physicals for town employees with commercial driver's licenses was tabled until the April 16 meeting. The council also authorized Mayor Backman to sign a letter of support for Lincoln County Big Spring parking-lot improvements.
Items tabled: The council tabled selecting the WAM voting delegate for the June 2026 conference and confirmation attendance to the April 16 meeting, and tabled approval of the town side of the semiquincentennial challenge coin until April 16.
Public comment and council remarks: Arvid Aase, speaking on behalf of Fossil Basin Monument, asked for increased municipal collaboration, offered a surplus storage shed for the town's use, and promoted a Fossil Lake informational training for May 7 at the SL Training and Events Center. Councilmember Sherrol Sloan announced a Freedom Fest planning meeting for April 7; Mayor Eric Backman said Kemmerer Mayor Bowen will join Diamondville in requesting WYDOT change signage on Highway 30 to rename Bypass 30 to Business Loop.
