Brooks reviews emergency preparedness, SS4A roadway safety input and schedules water outage

Council Member Brian Davis presented an overview of the town's emergency-management coordination, using the Newnan F-4 2021 disaster as an example of how resources are allocated before and after an emergency. The presentation was framed as a response to resident questions following Hurricane Helene.
Town Manager M. Ungaro encouraged residents to use the federal Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) online map through Oct. 28 to pinpoint intersections and stretches of road that need attention; staff will host a second public open house Oct. 29 at Tyrone Town Hall to assist residents with the interactive map. Ungaro said Liberty Tech and town staff have discussed alternate access to the town but Liberty Tech has no budget at present and will seek grant funding.
Ungaro also announced a scheduled water outage on Oct. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. while the county replaces a meter on a 6-inch main that supplies Brooks. He asked residents and businesses to prepare accordingly. The town reported the Brooks Market had a strong turnout and that most vendors reported good sales.
Why it matters: the emergency-management briefing and SS4A outreach are part of planning for storm recovery and federally funded roadway safety improvements; the planned outage is a short-term service interruption residents need to plan around.
