Sarah Keller, chief community engagement officer at Newscenda Credit Union, said the credit union will serve as the title sponsor for a back-to-school supply giveaway for Santa Fe Public Schools on July 31 at Santa Fe High.
"The school supply drive at Santa Fe Public Schools is one way that we can help ensure that every single kid and every single classroom has what they need to be as successful and productive as they possibly can be when school starts back up," Keller said.
Keller described a hands-on role for the credit union: business development and branch staff from Newscenda's three Northern New Mexico branches will volunteer at the event, stuffing backpacks and handing out supplies to students. "It's one of the things that our team loves to do the most is to get out and actually volunteer with the programs that we're supporting," she said.
Host Joe Abeyta said the giveaway was large last year and that volunteers provided essential support. Abeyta reminded listeners to thank the sponsor at the event and to watch the podcast's social media channels for timing details.
The episode did not list other organizational sponsors, specific distribution quantities, or the event start time; Abeyta said those details would appear on social media. The podcast also noted Newscenda has partnered with Santa Fe Public Schools since 2009 and that the credit union supports related activities such as teacher appreciation and student-orientation events.
The supply giveaway is scheduled for July 31 at Santa Fe High; the host said times will be posted on the podcast and district social channels.
