Citizens deliver letter to Osage County Commission alleging workplace and administrative problems at courthouse

During public comment at the July 14 session, a citizen (speaker 9) read a letter from concerned courthouse employees and citizens laying out multiple operational and personnel concerns at the Osage County Courthouse. The letter cited a $2-per-hour raise for a recently hired staffer who the authors say is still learning duties, alleged inconsistent policy enforcement, reports of employees not following time and dress rules, and delays or gaps in payroll and accounts-payable processing.

The letter also called attention to prolonged CIC system outages that have affected operations, an outdated accounting employee handbook, and insufficiently defined county credit-card and vehicle-use policies. The submitters framed the complaints as systemic concerns affecting morale and efficiency rather than personal attacks, and asked the commission to review and address the matters through updated policies, consistent enforcement and improved communication.

Commissioners acknowledged receipt of the letter, discussed ensuring public commenters provide their names for the record in future, and noted these concerns will need follow-up with human resources and payroll staff. The commission did not take immediate formal action during the meeting but said staff would review the matters raised and prepare information for the board to consider.
