At the July 7 meeting, Elections Director Pam Long reviewed the department’s FY26 advertising outlets and funding and said staff plans to reuse those outreach channels for FY27, including the November general election, with several additions.
Long said the department will place poll-worker hiring ads in Flagpole, distribute flyers at high-traffic locations such as the public library, the tag office and houses of worship with FAQs and guidance for local staff and leaders, and will look into pricing for advertising on ACC Transit buses. The additions are aimed at recruiting poll workers and ensuring consistent voter-facing information at community touchpoints.
Long also noted calendar items that support outreach: the poll-worker application will be open on or before National Poll Worker Recruitment Day (Aug. 11), absentee ballot applications for the Nov. 3 election will be accepted Aug. 17–Oct. 23, and Oct. 5 is the deadline to register or update voter information ahead of the Nov. 3 election. Logic-and-accuracy testing of voting equipment is scheduled Sept. 21–25 and poll worker training Sept. 26–Oct. 6.
Staff will proceed with planning ad buys and coordination for flyer distribution; the board received the report and no formal advertising expenditures were approved during the meeting.
