Premier Lakes reports algae and reduces aerator noise; plantings delayed after Edgewater concerns

Bill Kurth of Premier Lakes updated the River Ridge board on lake maintenance on July 23, reporting the lakes, preserves and dry retention areas are in good condition but that algae growth has been observed, a normal seasonal maintenance item.
Kurth said a cabinet was installed around the compressor at the Masters Lake and that the sound level was reduced from 64 to 52 decibels, which he characterized as acceptable. Operations Manager Shane Willis responded that the perceived problem is the tone of the aerator rather than just the decibel level; Willis said he and Premier Lakes will consider moving the compressor and coordinate findings with Bill and Alex Kurth and report back at the next meeting.
Chair Bob Schultz summarized additional issues in the Edgewater area—flooding, piping needs and requests for littoral plantings and rip‑rap—and recommended meeting with Tim Wilkin at Edgewater 1 NUR to seek an acceptable solution. The board reached consensus that Canna lilies should not be planted in Lake E4‑A; staff will hold off on plantings and resubmit proposals once an agreement with the Edgewater Association is reached.
No vote was taken; staff will coordinate potential equipment relocation and return with recommendations and cost estimates.
