The Onalaska Common Council approved a corrected final resolution (No. 17-20-26) to vacate portions of Westwood Lane, Carefree Drive, Holly Drive, Hilltop Drive and Overhill Drive in La Crosse County, describing the action as a clerical cleanup that reduces the vacated area by 0.04 acres.
"This is basically cleaning up a clerical error in the original document," Public Works Director Jared told the council and showed a new map included in the packet. Jared noted page 6 contained the original vacated map and page 7 showed the corrected map with the 0.04-acre difference.
The council opened a public hearing on the corrected resolution, called three times for proponents and opponents and closed the hearing after no speakers offered comment. Council then moved forward with the recommendation to approve the corrected map and passed the motion.
Separately, the finance committee presented vouchers totaling $2,824,850.07 (dated June 9, 2026) for approval. Alder Tom Smith moved to approve the vouchers; the motion was seconded and the council approved the expenditure list by roll call.
Why it matters: the resolution fixes a previously vacated map to match intent and record, and the voucher approval authorizes payments and expenditures identified in the finance committee report.
What the record shows: Jared described the mapping correction and acreage change and the council approved the resolution after a public hearing with no speakers. The voucher total was read into the record and approved on motion.
