Ocean View council adopts amended FY2026 operating and capital budget

The Ocean View Town Council voted to adopt an amendment restating the town’s operating and capital budgets for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2026, to reflect updated revenues and expenditures.

Finance Director Dawn Parks told the council the statement of anticipated revenues was revised to reflect actual receipts and additional sources that were not in the adopted budget, including a police department grant award, ARPA funds and reimbursable expenses. Parks said the operating budget increased by $3,360,045 and capital purchases increased by $281,825.

Parks directed council members to pages 6 and 7 of the ordinance for a line‑by‑line recap of the increases and offered to provide more detail on request. After a short period with no public questions, a council member moved to adopt the amended operating budget as presented by Parks; another council member seconded the motion and the council approved it by voice vote.

The ordinance is intended to align the adopted FY2026 figures (originally adopted April 8, 2025) with actual revenue and expenditure activity occurring during the fiscal year, including new grants and capital outlays that were not anticipated when the budget was adopted. The council did not request additional changes at the meeting and the finance director said the annual audit is scheduled for the following week.

The council’s action completes the public‑hearing portion of the 1st‑reading budget amendment and documents the updated revenue sources and spending authorized for the remainder of the fiscal year.
