Union Township Board enters executive session for superintendent/principal interviews, reconvenes and adjourns

The Union Township Board of Education entered executive session at 6:02 p.m. on Feb. 24, 2026, to conduct Superintendent and Principal interviews, President Lou Palma said after moving the motion. The motion to go into closed session was seconded by Dr. Christine Robitaille and cited the Open Public Meetings Act (N.J.S.A. 10:4‑12; 10:4‑13). The resolution stated the Board expected to reconvene in approximately 150 minutes and that no action would be taken while in executive session.

The meeting materials circulated prior to the special session included the district's 2024–2027 strategic plan, "The Bridge to Brilliance," and the Board's stated objectives for evaluation, agenda alignment and member training. Palma called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m., led the Pledge of Allegiance and the roll call recorded eight members as present and three absent. The minutes note that Dr. Christine Robitaille, who was recorded as present at roll call, left the meeting at 8:35 p.m.

There were no public comments recorded. The board's motion to enter closed session carried on a voice vote recorded in the minutes as Yes: 8; Absent: 1. The Board reconvened in open session at 8:49 p.m.; the reconvene motion was moved by President Lou Palma and seconded by Mr. Ralph Lenzi, with a voice vote recorded as Yes: 7; Absent: 2. After reconvening, Palma moved to adjourn, the motion was seconded by Mrs. Amelia Lamonde, and the meeting adjourned at 8:50 p.m. The minutes state that no action was taken as a result of the executive session.
