Village adopts ordinance clarifying rules for steel shipping containers

Resident Glen McClyman asked whether short-term moving pods would be affected and whether the change would count against an owner’s allowed accessory structures. Administrator Nick Leonard replied that moving pods used for a few weeks while residents move in or out would be excluded from the restriction and that the ordinance does not change the number of accessory structures allowed; the amendment is intended to firm up fire-separation requirements and use the term "steel shipping containers" rather than the broader label "steel buildings." Roll call on the adoption was recorded as Duffy—yes; Hornung—yes; Streetar—yes; Will—yes. The motion carried.
The ordinance was considered on second reading after a brief public hearing at the start of the meeting in which no members of the public spoke. The board did not record additional amendments or conditions tied to the adoption during the session. The village clerk will record the ordinance adoption in the official minutes and implement the clarified code language through standard administrative processes.
