The Provo City Council voted to adopt a resolution attesting that the council reviewed the city's 2025 Municipal Separate Storm Sewer (MS4) planning program self-assessment.
Dave Torgerson, Provo's wastewater superintendent, told the council the annual self-assessment covers the system's financial health, collection system condition, treatment plant capacity and staffing. He said the city was late completing the survey because the state sent it to the wrong individual but that staff had rectified the issue.
Torgerson used the presentation to deliver a public-education message about the collection system: "please please don't do that"—urging residents not to flush so'called flushable wipes and not to pour fats, oils and grease down drains because those items cause clogs and backups that require repair.
Councilors thanked wastewater staff for their work and the council adopted the resolution by unanimous vote. There was no recorded motion to change fees or budget at the meeting; the action certifies that the council reviewed the self-assessment as required under the MS4/permit process.
