Provo City Council pins five new firefighters

The Provo City Council held a badge-pinning ceremony on July 14 to welcome five new firefighters to the Provo Fire Department. Fire Chief Jeremy Hedman introduced the recruits and thanked trainers for their work.
Chief Jeremy Hedman said the recruits "have been through 8 weeks of training. They are on shift now and out there running calls and and taking care of emergencies every day." He introduced Rhett Collins, Italo Perdomo, Jake Johnston, Blake Evans and Daniel Monson and noted family members took part in the pinning.
A city official administered the oath, and council members and the mayor's office offered congratulations afterward. Councilor Katrice McKay invited family and friends to refreshments in the community room following the ceremony.
The council did not take any formal votes tied to the hires at the meeting; the ceremony recognized the department's recent recruit class and highlighted the training program's role in bringing personnel onto active shifts.
