Town Treasurer Mason reviewed the draft budget and confirmed a $60,000 reduction to cover the purchase of two trucks for Town operations. The purchases, as described by Administrator Aitken, include a Dodge 5500 intended to support plowing and heavy hauling and a Chevy Silverado added to the Town fleet.
Administrator Aitken said the Town traded in a 1-ton Dodge that had repeated problems, including a recent transmission replacement and turbo issues; he explained the $600 line in the financials labeled "transmission" reflected that prior repair. "This vehicle had a history of significant issues and was no longer meeting the Town’s operational needs," Aitken said.
The council did not vote on the truck purchases during the work session; Treasurer Mason and staff characterized the purchases as covered in the draft budget. The Mayor and council members discussed future fee adjustments—such as a proposed $14 returned-EFT charge and the 3% credit-card processing fee—so that transaction costs do not remain absorbed by the Town.
